We are seeing a lot of articles coming up about the new ‘nomad visa’ for indonesia, but very unclear at the minute if these are real or not. A lot seem to be repeating a lot of what we already know and some indicate that the current business Visa might be changing in future to incorporate a new happy medium for working here in Indonesia. We would like to encourage our users to still stay vigilant on this topic and share any updates they might find in this thread.

As this is an ever changing situation, that has an impact on a large group of the expat community here in Bali, lets try and keep this information up to date 🙂

What we currently do know is this.

The government’s original proposal for a longer-term digital nomad visa — possibly up to five years — is still under discussion.

The hope is to attract more foreign freelance and remote workers to the region by creating a concrete legal framework that gives both remote workers and the businesses that employ them more peace of mind.

There also seems to be a lot of push-back from other people in government which are concerned about possible negative impacts on local buisness and economy.
